E-Commerce War : The Greatest “Trolls” Ever

The cut throat competition between e-commerce companies like Flipkart, Amazon & Snapdeal has reached to different level altogether, none of the players are leaving any stone unturned to outdo each other.

If we revisit the last 10 days there are many “troll” instances in e-commerce for you guys to have a good laugh.

It all started with e-commerce giant Flipkart launching “big billion day” sale as the “baap” of all sales. It was advertised on all the possible platforms – Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Email Marketing, Television, Radio etc. Even the forward & backward logistics were planned in accordance to this “BIG” day with deployment of 10,000 field staff by this e-commerce mammoth.

Here are few interesting instances of one player downplaying the other.

When Amazon founder and chief executive Jeff Bezos visited Bangalore, India he was bombarded with giant billboards at Bangalore airport advertising Flipkart’s “Big Billion Day”.

On the D Day of “Big billion day” Flipkart gave a front page full-fledged advertisement on TOI stating “Today Don’t look anywhere else, India’s greatest sale ever is here” and Snapdeal, another major e-commerce company, trolled the Flipkart sale with a full page advertisement just beside the Flipkart ad stating “For others it’s a big day. For us, today is no different. Best savings guaranteed. Every day. Check Snapdeal before you buy”

And here comes the last nail in the coffin for today by Amazon trolling Flipkart – Open the web URL : bigbillionday.com and you will roll on the floor laughing to see this URL redirecting it to amazon.in. The big daddy of e-commerce, Amazon, had bought the domain on the day of the big billion sale, leaving flipkart with a red face.

The e-commerce wars are getting fiercer. This is turning out to be biggest on the face war, similar to cola wars we have experienced in 90’s and early 2000’s.

Just sit back, enjoy the discounts and have the last laugh !!
