We launched the ‘Guardians of the Heart’ campaign on account of World Heart Day 2023, encouraging people to “make a heart promise” by pledging to learn CPR and save lives. While Indians value learning skills that save time, effort, and money, only 2% of the population can perform CPR. This gap exists due to a lack of knowledge, awareness, and access, which has caused the importance of being CPR-aware to be overlooked until now. Determined to change history, the campaign aimed to raise CPR awareness from 2% to 3% by setting a record for the maximum number of pledges taken to learn CPR. With 22,319 pledges in 24 hours, Manipal Hospitals broke the Guinness World Record, marking the first step toward achieving their goal.
